The funny thing is that the more I tried to control this craft, the less cute it became! I definitely had to help the kids, but then stepped back and let them do their own drawings which turned out MUCH cuter than my own! This is a really fun holiday craft.
Supplies
Plastic Shatter-proof Fill-able Ornaments
Mini Foam Balls
Acrylic Paints
Thick tipped Sharpie
Not pictured: Paper towel roll cut for holders
We planned to use the white foam “snow” in the ornaments and so our snowpeople were light blue and red buddies!! I would have just done the blue but my daughter was devastated when we didn’t use the red paint, so our blue snow men got a lady friend each!
Main suggestion is dipping the finger in paint and then dabbing off excess on the plate. The paint dried quite quickly when it’s not applied too thickly. Two smaller thumbprints for the head and middle body and a horizontal thumb print for the lower body.

Our snowman friends! The Emberley book had the snowmen in top hats, but I thought they looked so cute without hats that we started just drawing eyes, smiles and arms. Some of the guys got lucky and earned a pair of legs too!

You’re crazy to bring these mini foam balls into your home. I am and was. They are so cute but you’ll certainly be finding them all over the house for weeks to come! I’m going to add “2015” to the bottom of the ornament and gift some and keep some. I actually liked these so much that I think I’ll be heading back for more to make. My son used a different Emberley design and made a Santa with reindeer! Other snow themed thumbprint designs included an ice skater, skier, penguin and more!
